1991 batch IPS officer Dr. Atul Verma has been appointed as the new director General of police (DGP) of Himachal Pradesh. After the retirement of Sanjay Kundu, Dr. Atul Verma has been appointed as director General of Police.
Only two months ago, the himachal pradesh government had appointed Dr. Atul Verma as the director General of CID. Now Dr. Atul Verma has been given the responsibility of holding the highest post of himachal pradesh Police. Atul Verma is a resident of Jharkhand.
Took the responsibility of CID chief at a crucial time
When congress MLAs cross-voted during the rajya sabha elections in himachal pradesh, chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had called it a major failure of the Intelligence Department. After this, Dr. Atul Verma was given the responsibility of CID in place of IPS officer Satwant Atwal. Now after CID, Atul Verma is going to take the big responsibility of director General of Police.
Atul Verma was third in seniority order.
Apart from Atul Verma, 1989 IPS officer S. R. There was talk of making Ojha and 1990 officer shyam Bhagat Negi as DGP. At present, both of them have been superseded and confidence has been expressed in 1991 batch IPS officer Dr. Atul Verma. sanjeev Ranjan Ojha is currently DG Jail and shyam Bhagat Negi is on Central deputation in Delhi. Atul Verma was third in seniority order.
