Released on 13 february 1975, the title of this film was 'Aandhi'. According to media reports, the story of this film was inspired by the life of former prime minister indira gandhi and her broken relationship with her husband. Directed by gulzar, this film featured sanjeev kumar and Suchitra Sen in the lead roles. In the film, sanjeev kumar played the role of JK, a hotel manager who falls in love with Aarti Devi, the daughter of a drunk politician, and both of them take their relationship forward and get married. Problems arise in this relationship and eventually this marriage breaks.
Aarti later becomes a big politician and creates a stir in the rally by saying that 'I left my husband for a political career', but even after all this, the feelings between the two do not diminish. Both of them stay away from each other for fear of harming each other's career and reputation and never confess their feelings.

There was also a fight between gulzar and Rakhi in the party of the film. It is said that this fight later became the reason for the separation of the two.
