Relief and loss to common people…why so?

For whom do the Central government, State government work? They work for the common people. There is a situation of government work being stalled during the lok sabha elections. This can be a loss situation for the public. The governments are not able to work at the pace they used to. Once the elections are over, then this kind of situation will not happen. However, lok sabha elections are held on the basis of national issues.

The assembly elections are held on the basis of local issues, the recommendation of Ramnath Kovind's committee says that the elections of panchayats and municipal corporations should also be held along with this. The thing to think about is that the assembly elections are held on the basis of local issues and the elections of such wards, the panchayat elections will be based on even more local issues like roads, drains, village lighting, etc.

Now, since elections are held separately, people have the convenience of evaluating the national issues and casting their votes during the lok sabha elections. During the assembly elections, the work of the state government has to be evaluated. When elections are held in between, people get an opportunity to express their displeasure through elections.

The basic structure of our constitution, which was decided by the supreme court in 1973 in the Bharti case, is that there are some basic structures of the constitution which cannot be changed. Under that basic structure, there is parliamentary democracy. Parliamentary democracy and one nation, one election, both are in contradiction with each other. There is a situation of contradiction between the two, how will it be adjusted? This is a situation of great crisis. It is easily possible in the American system, i.e. presidential system. But it will be a very difficult situation in indian culture and election system.
