Will Chandrababu complete the Varikapudisela Upliftment Scheme..!?

- cm Chandrababu laid the foundation stone for the Varikapudisela project.
- The water problems of the people of Palnadu are not resolved.
- Need to complete the project to irrigate more than two lakh acres.

In Veldurthy Mandal of Ummadi guntur District, the Varikapudisela Vagu Upliftment Scheme is being constructed on Nagarjunasagar Reservoir. A budget of around 50 lakh rupees has already been allocated for this purpose. The government hopes that if this lifting scheme is completed, an additional 30 thousand hectares can be irrigated in the Macharla area of guntur district. Varikapudisela Jalasadhana Samiti has also come into existence to speed up the construction of this project.

In 1996, the then chief minister Chandrababu laid the foundation stone for the Varikapudisela project. It is a fact that not much work has been done since then. The leaders of Varikapudisela Jalasadhana Samiti are also saying this. Even if the governments change, the water problems of the people of Palnadu are not resolved. Later, during the tenure of YS Rajasekhar Reddy's government, there was an expected movement in the works. However, it stopped again with his death. After that, this uplifting scheme started again. Since then the leaders of Jalasadhana Samiti have been organizing movements in the Palnadu area. The previous YSP government gave some priority to the Varikapudisela upliftment scheme proposed as part of the Godavari-Penna river link. The government has announced a calendar to actually complete the lift scheme by 2021.

The then mp from the Center (now tdp MP) krishna Deva Rayu also collected funds. But, whatever the reasons, this project is not going ahead. The movement leaders claim that if this project is made available, the areas of Bollapally, Veldurthi, Pullala Cheruvu, and macherla will become greener. There is a need to complete the project to irrigate more than two lakh acres and quench the thirst of the people of the area. Will the Chandrababu government complete this at present?
