Patnaik's 2-decade rule break.. Miss that record in a pinch?

The breaking of the Jaitrayatra of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader naveen patnaik, who has been the chief minister of odisha for 24 years, is really a matter of shock. bjp has finally been able to put a brake on him who has been dominant in the state of Odisha for more than two decades. The ruling Biju Janata Dal was defeated in the results of the last assembly elections. This can be said to be a great insult to naveen Patnaik. While bjp won 78 seats in the assembly with 147 constituencies, BJD managed to win only 51 seats. On the other hand, Congress party, CPM and independents shared the rest of the seats. With this, the bjp government was formed for the first time in the state of Odisha. Former bjp leader Mohan Charan is currently the chief minister of Odisha.

It is shocking that naveen patnaik who contested from two seats won in one place and lost in the other. naveen patnaik lost the opportunity to create a record by making the longest tenure as chief minister with a huge defeat in the odisha assembly elections. naveen patnaik has been the chief minister for the first time in march 2000 till now till 2024. He worked as chief minister for more than 24 years and 90 days. naveen patnaik would have crossed the record of pawan kumar Chamling, the former cm of sikkim, among those who served as the cm for the longest time. But that record was snatched by the bjp in a pinch. Chamling served as the cm of sikkim for 24 years and 165 days. After Chamling, naveen patnaik, jyoti basu (West bengal - 23 years 137 days), Gegang Apang (Arunachal Pradesh - 22 years 250 days), Lal Thadwal (Mizoram - 22 years 60 days), Veerabha Singh (Himachal Pradesh - 21 years 13 days) are among the longest serving CMs.
