Speaking time of leaders in the Lok Sabha...

Last week, during the debate in the lok sabha, congress mp and leader of Opposition rahul gandhi gave his speech for a total of 45 minutes. At the same time, Manoj Jha and aam aadmi party mp Sanjay Singh were able to speak for only 7 minutes in the same House.

Now coming to the proceedings of the ongoing rajya sabha Monsoon Session on august 1, during this, Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh took the name of Manoj Kumar Jha and said 5 minutes in front of his name. In response to this RJD mp Manoj Jha also jokingly told the Deputy Chairman that when you say 5 minutes or 3 minutes with the name, it seems as if the last wish is being asked before hanging. In such a situation, a question arises is the speaking time of all the leaders in parliament already fixed, if yes then why does a leader like rahul gandhi get 45 minutes and Sanjay Singh gets 5 minutes.

Issues are decided

Determining the time for discussion in the parliament of india is an important and organized process. Which issue will be debated in the parliament for how long, is decided by many important institutions and individuals. For the proper conduct of the proceedings of the parliament, it is also necessary that there is a correct and equitable allocation of time for discussion on different issues.

The main role in this process is of the business Advisory Committee, which decides the agenda of the House. The Speaker in the lok sabha and the Chairman or Deputy Chairman in the rajya sabha play an important role in this work. Apart from this, representatives of the government, especially the minister of Parliamentary Affairs, also propose and coordinate the time for discussion. Members of parliament also contribute to this process through their priorities and suggestions.
