Can the Chairman of rajya sabha be removed?

The debate that began on august 8 during the Rajya Sabha's proceedings persisted till august 9. The opposition's potential to file an impeachment resolution has become more prevalent in the midst of ongoing political unrest. The question of whether the Chairman can be fired in such a circumstance and, if so, what steps need to be taken and how the process works emerges.

Let us know where the commotion began first.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the opposition in the rajya sabha and president of the Congress, brought up the subject of Vinesh Phogat on august 8. We need to find out who was behind this, he stated in the House. Chairman jagdeep dhankhar cut mallikarjun in mid-sentence, saying it is impossible to politicize this subject. The opposition mp made a lot of noise when the Chairman turned off his microphone after that.

On august 9, the same commotion erupted again after Congressman jaya bachchan questioned Speaker jagdeep Dhankhar's tone. In the assembly, Jaya commented that jagdeep Dhankhar's tone was inappropriate. The Speaker became enraged upon hearing this and, in retaliation, chastised the opposition by using Jaya as a front. Following this, the Speaker MPs from the opposition and the nda stirred up controversy around jagdeep Dhankhar.

The opposition is now banding together and getting ready to remove Vice President jagdeep dhankhar through impeachment. A move against Dhankhar is expected to be brought by roughly 87 Rajya Sabha MPs, if reports are to be believed. In the event that this occurs, a motion to remove the Vice President will be presented in the house for the first time in indian political history.
