Rahul gandhi Slams Cover-Up Bid By mamata Govt

Amid the ongoing outrage over the kolkata doctor’s rape and murder case, leader of Opposition in lok sabha rahul gandhi on wednesday slammed the mamata Banerjee-led West bengal government and questioned the ruling TMC for attempting to save the accused instead of providing justice to the victim. The congress leader further extended his support to the victim’s family and raised concerns regarding the safety of women in the country. The Opposition leader further demanded justice for the 31-year-old doctor’s family and said that the culprits should be given such a punishment that it is presented as an example in society.

Hitting out at the bengal government, rahul gandhi took to X and wrote, “The entire country is shocked by the gruesome incident of rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata. The way the layers of the cruel and inhuman act against her are being revealed, there is an atmosphere of insecurity among the doctors’ community and women.”  The congress leader further added that the attempt to save the accused instead of providing justice to the victim raises serious questions on the hospital and the local administration.

“This incident has forced us to think that if doctors are not safe in a place like medical college, then how can parents send their daughters outside for studies? Why are even the strict laws made after the Nirbhaya case unsuccessful in preventing such crimes?” he said, adding, “Every party, every section of the society will have to hold serious discussions and take concrete steps on the continuously increasing incidents against women from hathras to Unnao, and from Kathua to Kolkata.”

The post-mortem of the 31-year-old doctor raped and murdered in one of Kolkata’s premier government medical colleges detected a significant amount of fluid — likely semen — in her body, indicating that she could have been brutalised by more than one person, media reports suggested on Wednesday.  One of them accessed a petition by the woman’s parents to the calcutta High Court, while the other quoted a doctor who said the autopsy report mentioned 151 milligrams of liquid from the vaginal swab
