Haryana Elections : Will small parties become game changers?

The countdown for haryana assembly elections 2024 has begun. The main contest in the state is believed to be between bjp and congress, but this time the role of small parties can be very important in the elections. Especially the entry of the aam aadmi party (AAP) can change the political equations. Apart from this, the performance of Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janata party (JJP), Abhay Singh Chautala's indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Gopal Kanda's haryana Lokhit party (HLP) can become a challenge for bjp and Congress.

BJP and congress have been the main parties in haryana, which has 90 assembly seats, for the last two decades. Earlier, congress ruled under the leadership of Bhupendra Singh Hooda from 2005 to 2014. Then since 2014, the bharatiya janata party has been in power. At the same time, congress was ahead in the 2004 and 2009 lok sabha elections. bjp was ahead in 2014 and 2019. Now in the recently concluded 2024 lok sabha elections, both bjp and congress won equal 5-5 seats.

It was not easy for BJP!

BJP is trying to score a hat-trick of victory in Haryana. However, this path is not easy. In 2014, BJP formed the government in the state with an absolute majority. In 2019, BJP fell short of majoritygovernment was formed in alliance with JJP. Now the JJP-BJP alliance has broken even before the elections. JJP is contesting the elections alone. At the same time, in the 2024 lok sabha elections, BJP's seats also decreased from 10 to 5.

After the lok sabha election results, BJP has changed its entire strategy in Haryana. bjp has also prepared a full proof plan to appease every section. Recently, BJP has changed its Chief Minister face. OBC face Nayab Singh saini was made the Chief Minister in place of Manohar Lal Khattar. A new bet was made by appointing Brahmin face Mohan Lal Baroli as the state president. State in-charge Satish Poonia comes from the Jat community. The party is focusing especially on social engineering.
