Former maharashtra minister nawab malik shared the stage with ncp chief and deputy cm ajit pawar in mumbai on monday (August 19). devendra fadnavis has previously expressed strong opposition to the inclusion of a tainted leader in the ruling Mahayuti alliance. According to a PTI report, when asked for a comment on nawab malik sharing the stage with ncp chief ajit pawar, maharashtra deputy cm devendra fadnavis said, "I have already made my stand clear."
nawab malik has been considered a loyalist of ncp founder Sharad Pawar. He is accused in the money laundering case and is on interim bail on medical grounds. At the Jan Samman yatra program organized in Anushakti nagar constituency in mumbai, ajit pawar appointed Malik's daughter sana Nawab Malik as the spokesperson of the NCP. During this, nawab malik shared the stage.
bjp leader and deputy cm devendra fadnavis had written a letter to ajit pawar against any plan to include former minister nawab malik in the Mahayuti alliance after joining the Mahayuti government last year.
The ED case against Malik is based on an FIR registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against underworld terrorist and 1993 mumbai serial blasts prime accused dawood ibrahim and his associates. When nawab malik was a cabinet minister in the previous MVA government led by uddhav thackeray, he used to strongly criticize the BJP-led central government and the then opposition leader in maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis. Malik was arrested in february 2022. He was granted interim bail in august 2023 which was extended from time to time.
