Meanwhile, discussion has intensified on the recruitment of Sujit Kumar Bajpayee, brother of veteran bollywood star Manoj Bajpayee, through lateral entry.
Who is Sujit Kumar Bajpayee?
Dr. Sujit Kumar Bajpayee is working as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). However, many people are still surprised by the appointment of Sujit Kumar as Joint Secretary because Sujit Kumar Bajpai, who was a senior manager in the public sector power producer NHPC, is too junior for such a post in the government.
Currently 57 officers posted through lateral entry
He joined NHPC in 2001. Before joining the government of India, he served for about 19 years in NHPC, a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Power. Let us tell you that in 2019, 8 joint secretary posts were appointed. After this, 30 officers (3 joint secretaries, 27 directors) were selected in 2022. In 2023, recruitment was recommended for 37 posts, which also included 20 officers (joint secretary, director and deputy secretary). According to reports, in the last five years, 63 appointments have been made at these levels through lateral entry. Currently, 57 such officers are posted.
