In this incident, at 11.30 pm on July 4, 2017, Zemala Balaraju, Penta Balayya, Kola Harish, Pasula Ishwar Kumar, and Gandham Gopal of Nerella village were detained by the police as suspects and arrested on the 7th. They were arrested and taken to remand on 8th July. After beating the victims to death, the police eventually took them to karimnagar Jail.
 During this time Jailer Shivakumar refused to remand the accused after seeing the injuries. They were given painkiller tablets and told that they were fine and were sent to jail on the 8th after getting a doctor's certificate. Four fell seriously ill after going to jail. They were immediately shifted to karimnagar Government Hospital. After Mulakat informed their family members about this matter in jail, protests were expressed across the state. This brought many criticisms to KTR. In their own constituency, some leaders related to trs are carrying out illegal sand mining and killing those who come in the way with lorries. This crime has become a sensation.
Even though it is such a big issue, at least ktr did not respond. Finally, after 40 days the victims were visited as the pressure increased. He promised to help. The National sc Commission, which responded to the incident, conducted an inquiry, and the Human Rights Commission visited the village of the culprits and spoke. However, no justice was given to the victims. The opposition has severely criticized the crime incident. All this was done in KTR's mind and he was severely criticized as the reason behind it. Besides, they demanded that an exgratia of 10 lakh rupees be announced to the victims and an inquiry be conducted by the sitting judge.
