States with the highest women participation!!!
Kerala has maintained a participation rate of about 89 percent of women in the last five years. This shows that women in kerala have got good support to join rural employment schemes. Apart from this, tamil Nadu and puducherry are the states where more than 85 percent women participation has been seen consistently in the last five years.
Goa is the fourth state where women participation was the highest in the financial year 2023-24. However, women's participation in goa decreased from 78.40 percent in the financial year 2021-22 to 72.09 percent in 2023-24. Similar fluctuations in women's participation were also seen in Mizoram. Here it has come down from 56.82 percent in 2020-21 to 48.89 percent in 2023-24. In a total of 20 states, the number of women working in MNREGA is more than 50 percent.
Increased participation in assam and Haryana
States like assam and haryana have seen a clear increase in women's participation in the last five years. Women's participation in assam increased from 41.77 percent in 2019-20 to 50.59 percent in 2023-24. On the other hand, haryana saw an increase from 50.59 percent in 2019-20 to 61.05 percent in 2023-24. These trends indicate better conditions for women's participation in these states.
Where is women's participation the lowest?
Jammu and Kashmir is the only state where women's participation is less than 33 percent. Only a marginal increase was seen in 2021-22. The rest of the years the number remained below 33%. Apart from this, the lowest participation of women was also seen in lakshadweep (40%), Uttar Pradesh (42.26%), maharashtra (43.94%), madhya pradesh (43.32%), Nagaland (44.77%) in 2023-24. The government will have to make more efforts to get more and more women to work in MNREGA in these states.
