Politics - Many challenges lie ahead for Vijay!!!
The challenges ahead for Vijay are significant. In the political arena, Vijay's party TVK will be competing with well-established Dravidian parties-Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All india Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Both these parties have dominated tamil Nadu politics for decades. The bharatiya janata party (BJP) is also steadily increasing its presence in the state.
The political vacuum created by the death of DMK leader Karunanidhi and AIADMK supremo jayalalithaa has inspired other film stars like Rajinikanth and kamal haasan to make their political debut. While Rajinikanth withdrew his name even before formally launching his party, kamal haasan suffered a crushing defeat in the 2021 state elections and after that he allied with the DMK-led coalition.
Will Vijay be able to dent the voter base of AIADMK and DMK?
After Jayalalithaa's demise, the AIADMK saw a decline, which benefited both the bjp and the Naam Tamilar Katchi led by film director Seeman. Now with Vijay's entry, it remains to be seen whether he will dent the AIADMK's voter base or challenge the DMK's stronghold.
Initial speculation suggests that Vijay has a huge fan base which can garner at least 10% vote share for TVK. tamil Nadu voters, who have been admirers of the acting of actors-turned-politicians like Rajinikanth, kamal haasan and Vijayakanth, have not given much support to their favourite leaders in politics. Now will the superstar achieve success on the political stage, or will he meet the same fate as his predecessors? Only the upcoming elections will tell.
