In Pudukottai district, saplings are being distributed to farmers under Green tamil Nadu Project by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department and Forest Department. Farmers can take advantage of this northeast monsoon to buy saplings and plant saplings, said the Joint director of Agriculture Department from Pudukkottai.

The Green tamil Nadu Mission is being implemented with the objective of increasing the forest cover from 23.7 to 33. The target is to plant and maintain 260 crore saplings in a period of 10 years. With this, tamil Nadu will become a self-sufficient state in oxygen demand in the future. The saplings are also provided at a free of cost and this might boost everyone.

Since a large number of barren lands are available in Pudukkottai district, the farmers are producing various types of profitable saplings such as teak, redwood, rosewood, sandalwood, mahogany, casuarina etc. Pudukkottai district Joint director of Agriculture said that farmers can take advantage of this northeast monsoon and plant saplings, that is, in gardens, fields and even on the edges of bunds. He also said that farmers can register and get the saplings produced under the Green tamil Nadu Mission through the Uzhavan app.
