Congress women Workers Over KTR’s 'Break Dance' Comments

On Saturday, a clash erupted between female supporters of the BRS and congress parties in hyderabad during KT Rama Rao's (KTR) visit to the Women’s Commission office. ktr, Telangana’s former minister and working president of BRS, was summoned over his controversial remarks about a free bus travel scheme for women.

Upon arriving at the Women’s Commission office, ktr was met with protests from Mahila congress workers who demanded an apology for his comments. They were upset over his suggestion that women using the free travel scheme could "break dance" or record dance videos, which they found dismissive and insensitive.

The Commission had previously issued a notice requiring ktr to appear in person on august 24. In response to the backlash, ktr apologized on social media on august 16, expressing regret if his comments offended women. He clarified that he did not intend to upset anyone.

The maha Lakshmi Scheme, which offers free travel for women, girls, and transgender individuals on state-run buses, was a key promise in the Congress’s election campaign and is thought to have helped secure their victory in last year’s assembly election
