Aaditya thackeray promises 500 sq ft house for Tamilans in Dharavi
Dharavi is the largest slum in Asia spread across 590 acres in the heart of mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. About six lakh people live in 100 square feet sal houses amidst crisis. Most of them migrated from tamil Nadu generations ago to mumbai in search of a livelihood and settled permanently in Dharavi.

Dharavi Rehabilitation Project
The Dharavi Redevelopment Project was announced in 2022 to completely remove all the slums in Dharavi and make it on pair with other cities of Mumbai. The adani Group has floated a tender for the Dharavi redevelopment project for around Rs 5069 crore.

Dharavi region to change
The adani Group has set up a company called Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Limited in collaboration with the maharashtra government.  The slums in Dharavi will be demolished and replaced by shopping malls, offices, sports stadiums and malls. The work is scheduled to be completed within seven years and the work is in progress.


Dharavi houses for Tamilans
Those in Dharavi are to be given flats in another area.  Those who settled in Dharavi before 2000 will be treated as eligible and will be given free accommodation of 350 square feet. At the same time, those who migrated after 2000 will be considered unfit and will be given houses at affordable rents. The survey work is in progress.
