As many as 110 pilgrims from Bhusaval in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district had embarked on a pilgrimage to Ayodhya.

They offered prayers at the ram temple in ayodhya and then went to Chitrakoot, Gorakhpur and other places to offer prayers at the temples there. Then they left for nepal in two buses to offer prayers at temples in Nepal. They were on their way to Kathmandu from Pokhara in Nepal. The bus carrying 44 people were off the road and fell into a 150-metre-deep gorge while it was on a highway in Danahu district. There was a river called Marshyangadi flowing there. The bus fell into the river. On hearing about the accident, Nepalese authorities carried out a rescue operation.  At least 27 people were killed in the accident.

Of them, 24 were from maharashtra and 16 were injured. They were taken to a hospital in Kathmandu by helicopter. One is missing. Officials said 12  of the injured were in critical condition. Uttar Pradesh Rescue and Rehabilitation Commissioner naveen said that the bodies will be received at the nepal border and they will be handed over to the maharashtra government.
Maharashtra minister Anil Patil said the state government is coordinating with the governments of nepal and Uttar Pradesh to bring back the bodies of the deceased. Some of the dead were over 60 years old and a 6yearold child also died.  The driver and conductor of the bus were also killed.

Jalgaon district Collector Ayush prasad said, "The pilgrims were from Warangaon area in Bhusawal taluka. They were on their way to Kathmandu in two buses when one of them fell into a roadside ditch at Ambukerani. Everyone on the other bus is safe."

 
Deputy chief minister devendra fadnavis said the Jalgaon district collector is in touch with the Uttar Pradesh Prayagraj district collector to bring back the bodies. chief minister Eknath Shinde spoke to Union home minister amit shah in this regard. He asked them to take immediate steps to bring back the bodies of the deceased. Today, all the bodies will be brought to Nashik from Gorakhpur in a special flight. The bodies will be handed over to their relatives in Nashik.
