Mata Jayakumar  (34) hails from Mettupalayam in Musiri taluk of Trichy district.He  was working as a branch manager of a national bank in Vadakarai Edodi in kozhikode district of kerala for the past one year.

In this case, he was transferred to another branch of the bank in ernakulam, Kerala. In this case, the new manager of Edodi bank has audited the pawned jewellery. It was found that the kilos of gold ornaments kept by the customers in the bank were replaced with fake jewellery.

Subsequent investigations by the bank officials revealed that 26 kg 800 grams of jewellery worth Rs 17.50   crore was fake.   Madha Jayakumar, who was the manager of the bank, was absconding from the ernakulam branch.  Based on the complaint filed by the bank, the Vadakarai police in kerala were searching for Mata Jayakumar. In this case, he was arrested in telangana two days ago.
 
Inquiry
During interrogation, it was found that Jayakumar's friend karthik (29), a resident of rajiv gandhi Nagar in Chandrapuram KNB Colony, Tirupur, had mortgaged some of the jewellery from a private bank in Tirupur. Following this, the kerala police took Mata Jayakumar to Tirupur. police and bank officials inspected two different branches of the same private bank at pushpa Theatre and Kangayam Road in Tirupur.

Jewellery
Subsequently, 4 kg 600 grams of gold at pushpa Theatre branch and 900 grams of gold at Kangeyam Road branch were seized. They are searching for karthik, who is absconding in connection with the scam and are investigating the details of how many people are involved in it. Jayakumar is being questioned about where he had received the money.
