The chennai Metro rail project from Bukhari Hotel Junction to Kathipara Flyover on Mount Poonthamallee Road will be taken up at St. Thomas Hills.

 Traffic will be diverted from Parangimalai to Kathipara flyover for three days from 11 pm to 6 am on Sunday.

After the reception of the first phase of the chennai Metro, the work on the second phase of the chennai Metro is going on at a brisk pace.

In the second phase of the chennai Metro rail Corridor, the madhavaram Dairy Colony-Sholinganallur SIPCOT corridor, the 4th corridor will be 26.1 km long from Light house to Poonthamallee and 47 km of Corridor 5.m.  The Madhavaram-Sholinganallur Metro rail project is going on at a brisk pace.

The corridor from Poonthamallee to Lighthouse passes through the heart of Chennai. The corridor from Poonthamallee bypass to Kodambakkam Powerhouse will be a flyover and Kodambakkam flyover to light house will be a subway. Similarly, the construction of the second largest metro rail depot at Poonthamallee at a cost of Rs 187 crore is in progress.

The 5th metro corridor in chennai will be between madhavaram Dairy and Sholinganallur. Out of the 44.6 km corridor, 38.77 km will be under the flyover and 5.83 km will be under the ground. There will be 48 railway stations on this route. It is this corridor that connects the most important IT companies. It connects Mount, Kathipara and Nandambakkam. Traffic diversion has been announced for these works.

  According to a statement issued by the chennai Traffic Police, the Metro rail project will be held from 11 pm to 6 am    on sunday for the Mount-Poonthamallee Road, Bukhari Hotel Junction to Kathipara Flyover. Traffic changes are made on a trial basis for days.

There is no change in vehicles going to Porur from Kathipara flyover. They will operate as usual. vehicles coming from Porur towards Kathipara flyover will not be allowed on the Mount-Poonthamallee Road at BHEL Military Road junction.

Instead, take a left turn towards New Road, take a right turn at the junction of war Cemetery – Military Road opposite Bukhari Hotel, take a right turn on Defence Colony 1st Avenue and turn left on Cantonment Road via Sundar nagar 7th Cross Dhanakoti raja Street to reach Guindy Industrial Estate Estate South Phase Road 100 Feet Road junction and reach Kathipara flyover.  One can also take a left to reach Vadapalani," it said.
