The72nd birthday of late DMDK chief Vijayakanth was celebrated at DMDK office recently.
Speaking to reporters   after the meeting, Premalatha Vijayakanth said, “The  72nd birthday of Captain Vijayakanth is being celebrated as Poverty Eradication Day by the cadres of Kazhagam all over tamil Nadu. Two statues, a life-size statue of the captain and a bust of the captain, have been unveiled.
She donated Rs 50,000 to mgr School, food for the students, palm seeds across tamil Nadu, a two-wheeler for Appusamy, who served the tribal people of Anthiyur in Erode district for  30  years, and  Rs 1 lakh to delhi tamil Sangam. This amount of Rs.1 lakh is given as scholarship to 20 students.

 The DMDK headquarters has been renamed as ‘Captain Alayam’ on the occasion of Captain’s birthday. Henceforth, theDMDK headquarters will be known as ‘Captain Alayam’.In his manifestro, Captain had mentioned that his dream is to create a society free from corruption and corruption, education for all, safe drinking waterfor all,ensuring food, shelter and clothing to every individual, interlinking of river and maintaining law and order. Let's accomplish that.
