Lok Janshakti party (Ram Vilas) President chirag paswan on sunday announced that his party will contest the assembly elections in jharkhand which is to be held at the end of the year. chirag paswan said in a press conference in ranchi that either the LJP will contest the elections with alliance partner bjp or will contest on its own. chirag paswan was elected President of Lok Janshakti party (Ram Vilas) on Sunday. He will hold this post for the next five years. He was elected in the National Executive meeting in Ranchi. chirag paswan said during the press conference that "I have been elected for the next five years."

All the MPs elected from bihar were present in the LJP-Ram Vilas' national executive meeting in Ranchi. chirag paswan said that the people of jharkhand want change. His party will contest the elections for change. If there is no agreement on seats, then LJP-Ram Vilas will contest the elections alone.

Chirag said, "In 2014, there was an alliance with bjp in jharkhand itself. We were given one seat. We contested the elections. This time the freedom has been given to the state unit. It will decide whether it is ready for the alliance or wants to fight alone. We will also formally put this issue before the alliance. If there is an adjustment of seats, we will contest the elections under the alliance or we can decide to contest alone.''
