Bandra police of mumbai has arrested a person who used to call himself the PA of bjp mla ashish Shelar and used to cheat the relatives of jailed prisoners. police said that the arrested accused used to contact lawyers and get information about their clients from them and then used to lure them with the promise of getting government assistance from the state government and in this way he used to extort money from them.
According to the police, the name of the arrested accused is Aamir Irfan Bendrekar. Bendrekar was arrested from Nallasopara. The accused used to call himself 'Sharma' and projected himself as Shelar's PA. An officer said that the accused used to call lawyers and get information about their clients from them and then used to claim that the state government is planning to release prisoners to reduce the crowd in jails, and on this pretext used to ask for money from the relatives.
According to the police, he took the lawyers into confidence and asked for money from the relatives, saying that the amount would be returned after getting approval from the government. police said that the accused extorted money from people on different pretexts, one of which was the medical expenses of the prisoners. Investigation revealed that the accused had also imitated the voice of the PA to win the confidence of the lawyers. Currently, the police is interrogating the accused and further investigation in the case is going on.
