From august 1987 to august 1992, he served as the Municipal Chairman of Tadipatri, and then again from 2000 to 2005. He also held this position from 2005 to 2010. After the state's bifurcation, JC prabhakar reddy left the congress and joined the telugu desam party (TDP). He contested the 2014 andhra pradesh Legislative assembly elections from Tadipatri, won, and became close to Chandrababu Naidu.
