As strong rains continued to batter the coastal state of gujarat, at least 15 people lost their lives, over 23,000 were evacuated, and over 300 were saved in various districts of the state.

The deep depression looming over the regions of Saurashtra-Kachchh and north gujarat is projected to move away of the afflicted areas by wednesday evening, according to the india Meteorological Department (IMD), providing a break from the torrential rains in the following days.

The gujarat government has requested six indian Army columns, one in each of the districts of Dwarka, Anand, Vadodara, Kheda, Morbi, and Rajkot, in order to expedite rescue and relief efforts.

Furthermore, 22 SDRF platoons and 14 NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) platoons have already been sent to assist with disaster management.

Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra patel called a high-level meeting earlier on tuesday to discuss the rescue and relief efforts.

"The chief minister instructed the district Collectors to take full vigilance and caution by taking the help of the police so that no one goes into the overflowed rivers, drains and lakes as a result of heavy rains. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has specially urged the district Collectors of the coastal areas to strictly follow the warning to the fishermen not to venture into the sea," the Chief Minister's office said in a post on X.
