Rahul Gandhi, the leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, reiterated his call for a national caste census by using india Today's Mood of the Nation poll. In addition to demonstrating strong public support for the caste census, the study also revealed support for a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP) of crops, a problem that the narendra Modi-led nda government has been battling.

According to the august Mood of the Nation survey (MOTN), 86.6% of participants were in favor of a legislative guarantee for maximum supply pricing (MSP). Farmers have kept fighting for this measure even after the narendra modi administration withdrew the three agricultural legislation in november 2021.

Farmers staged months-long protests against the three agriculture regulations, squatting on Delhi's boundaries. After the laws were removed, they withdrew, but they are still at the border with Shambhu, advocating for a law that would guarantee MSP for a number of crops.

For the government, this is one problem that may turn into a forest fire. Since the government has moved on to handle the outrage over the New Pension Scheme (NPS), the issue is: will it preempt it?

HOW THE bjp government DOUSED NPS fire WITH UPS
The congress has been attempting to capitalize on the resentment that federal workers have toward the NPS problem. It ran for office in many state elections on a platform of returning to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) if elected. In addition to the congress administrations in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh, the AAP government in punjab also brought back the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

The government is burdened with an enormous amount of pension dues as a result of the OPS. The Center's pension liabilities has increased significantly over the past few decades, rendering it unmanageable.

The OPS was replaced with the NPS in january 2004, during the tenure of the bjp administration led by prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. However, because workers believed the New Pension Scheme (NPS) did not provide a minimum income, they continued to demonstrate and demand improvements.

The bjp adopted a proactive stance in resolving the matter. The government decided to implement a Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) after forming a committee led by former finance secretary tv Somanathan to investigate employee complaints.
