A police officer overseeing Darshan Thogudeepa's protection has been subject to disciplinary action after it was alleged that the kannada actor was wearing "sunglasses" as he was being transported from Bengaluru to ballari prison.

Darshan was moved from Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Prison to ballari Central Jail on Thursday. He is charged with the murder of his admirer and 33-year-old car driver, Renukaswamy. He was moved as a result of the uproar caused by a widely shared photo that surfaced earlier this week showing him hanging out on the Parappana Agrahara Prison lawn with three other people, including a boisterous sheeter.

Darshan was observed wearing blue pants and a branded black T-shirt with "sunglasses" dangling over his shirt when he entered the ballari prison. According to ballari police sources, Darshan was wearing power glasses, which are permitted for undertrial detainees and offenders with vision problems. Wearing these lenses was not considered a crime.

Although the jail notification said that the actor might wear cooling glasses, which are nearly like sunglasses, sources added that police had defined it as Darshan's power lessons. Prior to this, Darshan was suspected of enjoying special treatment at Parappana Agrahara Prison when a picture of the actor going viral appeared to show him lounging on a chair, smoking a cigarette, and clutching a coffee cup.
