Why hyderabad is the city of lakes..!?

Do you know..? hyderabad was once a city of lakes (Lake City). jaipur means pink City. lucknow means the City of Nawabs. Bangalore means Garden City and our Hyderabad..? Here is the Qutb Shahi. Here are the Asaf Jahi. In the middle is the land ruled by the Mughals. The city is growing day by day in the country of India. The city that was once famous as a prosperous city. With the growing urbanization, the construction of huge buildings swallowed the ponds. But, do you know the name of hyderabad once?
Now everyone is talking about the encroachment of ponds. So many ponds have been encroached on? Many people don't know that the original name of hyderabad is Lake City (City of Lakes). It is a blessed city with lakes in every direction. Some of these are natural and some are constructed. Most of these lakes have disappeared over time. Those that survived were shrunk by encroachments. Of the thousands of water sources of various sizes in the city and its surrounding areas in the 1970s, it is believed that only 70 to 500 survive today. They are used for encroachments and real estate projects. Most of the lakes were built during the reign of the Qutb Shahis in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Built by the Nizams in 1575, Hussain Sagar was the source of drinking water for Hyderabadis in the 1930s. Being the largest lake, its area has shrunk by more than 40% (from 550 ha to 349 ha) in 30 years. Big ponds like Durgam pond became tourist centers. hyderabad once had more than 250 man-made lakes. According to telangana Pollution Control Board data, 23 out of 185 lakes in ghmc had dried up by february last year.
