2 thousand crore loan slipped due to OPS restoration…?

What is the loan limit of Himachal?

The government led by chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in himachal pradesh took a total loan of Rs 21 thousand 366 crore from 15 december 2022 to 31 July 2024. Out of this, a loan of Rs 5 thousand 864 crore has also been repaid. Not only this, the state government has also taken a loan of Rs 2 thousand 810 crore against GF from january 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024.

Soon the debt burden of himachal pradesh is going to cross Rs 1 lakh crore. himachal pradesh government earns about Rs 1,200 crore every month from tax and non-tax revenue. In this way, salary and pension will be given by combining Rs 520 crore of revenue deficit grant and the state government's own revenue of Rs 1200 crore. This problem is going to increase even more in the coming months.

Difficulties will not reduce in the coming time

himachal pradesh government has a loan limit of Rs 6,200 crore till december in this financial year. Out of this, a loan of Rs 3,900 crore has been taken. Now only a limit of Rs 2,300 crore is left. With this, the state government has to run its work till the month of December. A separate loan limit will be sanctioned from the Center for the last quarter of the financial year from december to March. In such a situation, the state government will now have difficulty in paying salary and pension for the months of october and november after September.
