Nandyala residents tremble due to the Kundu River..!?

* The Kundu River that makes the residents of Nandyal tremble.
*People of nandyala and Koilakuntla who are suffering due to the Kundu flood.
* Will the difficulties be solved only by building a protective wall?

People living in the combined kurnool district need no special introduction to the Kundu River. This river is known as Kumudvati by the people here and is also known as Kunderu. This river is a tributary of the penna river which flows in the rayalaseema region and this tributary originates as a spring near Uppalapadu village of Orvakal mandal and joins Penna in Kamalapuram of kadapa district. If the river is raging it will cause huge damage to nandyala and Koilkuntla areas. It can be said that there are chances of pollution of the river due to industrialists mixing the factory waste in the river. Kundu River flows on the outskirts of nandyala town. However, due to the flood from the Maddileru River, it meets the Kundu River at the SRBC colony bridge. If the Kundu River is in full flow, there is a possibility that 20 to 30 colonies will be submerged simultaneously.
In the past, proposals were made to build a protective wall along the banks of the Kundu River at a cost of 100 crore rupees and tenders were called and abandoned. The river covers 6 assembly constituencies in kurnool and kadapa districts. During the floods of 2009, people suffered a lot for 5 days due to the flow of the Kundu River in Nandyala. Most of the Kunderu river bed is rocky and limestone quarrying is done here. It is noteworthy that this river is unique because the river bed is covered with layers of rocks. Even with the recent rains, the water flow in the Kundu River and Maddileru rivulets was high, so the district police officials inquired about the flood surge. If there is heavy rain, the people of the areas near the Kundu River will have to panic.
