A big gamble behind making Atishi the CM...?
While Arvind Kejriwal's resignation from the post of delhi chief minister just before the haryana assembly elections was seen as the next political move of the Aam Aadmi party, kejriwal has played another big trump card. By making Atishi the cm of Delhi, kejriwal has played another big gamble. She will be the third woman chief minister of Delhi, before this senior bjp leader sushma swaraj and Sheila Dixit, who held power for a long time in delhi, were the CMs.
Aatishi, who became an mla for the first time after being elected from Kalkaji assembly constituency, emerged as the most powerful minister in the delhi government at a time when arvind kejriwal had to go to jail in the alleged delhi liquor scam. How much she is trusted by kejriwal can be gauged from the fact that he has tried to give a big political message by making Atishi the cm to appease half the population just before the assembly elections.

Aatishi currently holds the portfolios of Finance, Water, Education, PWD, Energy, Revenue, Planning, Law and Justice, Services, Information and Broadcasting and Vigilance. When Sisodia and kejriwal were in jail, Atishi played a key role in the party. kejriwal had written a letter to delhi Lieutenant governor VK Saxena to hoist the national flag at the Independence Day event organized by the delhi government, in which he had suggested the name of cabinet minister Atishi.
However, the Lieutenant governor had nominated Kailash Gehlot for this. Atishi took oath as a minister on 9 march 2023 in the Kejriwal-led government for the first time after the cabinet reshuffle. Earlier, Atishi worked as an advisor to the then education minister manish Sisodia till april 2018. The party had said that Atishi played an important role in the revival of schools operating in the national capital. While Atishi played an important role in strengthening the infrastructure of Delhi's government schools, on the other hand, steps like formation of school management committee under the Right to education Act, strengthening regulations to curb the arbitrary increase in fees by private schools and implementation of Happiness Curriculum were important.
