'Will give my life, but...', Ashta farmers' blunt reply…

GAIL india Company's ethane cracker petrochemical plant is to be set up in Ashta area, located 60 km from Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal, but local farmers have started protesting against this plant. On thursday (September 19), hundreds of farmers took out a tractor rally and submitted a memorandum in protest against the plant. On thursday, farmers from more than a dozen villages including village Bhanwari, Bapcha, Arnia, Dawood, Bagair, Shobhakheri, Mubarakpur, Donia of Ashta assembly constituency took out a huge tractor rally under the banner of 'GAIL india Wapas Jao Sangharsh Samiti'.

Rally with 500 tractor trolleys

Giving information regarding the rally, Harpal Thakur said that a huge tractor rally was taken out from Bypass Chowpatty through 'GAIL india Wapas Jao Sangharsh Samiti'. A large number of people participated in this rally with about 500 tractor trolleys. This crowd of protesters reached the Sub-Divisional Officer's office on tractor trolleys and on foot. Here a large number of people protested against GAIL india company and registered their protest.

These two demands were made to the Chief Minister

1. While placing the demand of the members and farmers of 'GAIL india Wapas Jao Sangharsh Samiti', Harpal Thakur said that mainly two demands have been made to the chief minister of madhya pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav, one, we farmers will not allow GAIL India's ethane cracker petrol chemical plant to be set up on government and private land at any cost.

2. The farmers of the area will not give their private land at any cost. The environment, water, land of our area will get polluted due to the setting up of GAIL India's ethane cracker plant, which will have a terrible adverse effect on the life of the people of our area. Harpal Thakur said that due to this, in the coming time, the people of our area may have to face many types of diseases like cancer, lung disease, mental instability. Along with this, pregnant women will also be adversely affected in the future. He said that apart from this, the children will not be fully healthy and developed and there is a possibility of many types of diseases, so this plant cannot be planted here at any cost.
