Israel gets deadline to leave Gaza!

The United Nations has given israel a deadline to leave Gaza amid the Israel-Hamas war. In fact, through voting on a resolution, israel has been asked to withdraw from the Palestinian-occupied area within a year. The atmosphere against israel can be clearly seen in this voting. 124 votes have been cast against israel in the voting, while 14 votes are in support and 43 members were not involved in the voting. It is believed that this vote presents a challenge to israel and can further weaken the country's position in the international community.

'Israel's illegal settlements in the West bank and east Jerusalem'

The resolution has supported the comment made by the UN's top court i.e. the international court of Justice. This comment states that Israel's presence in the Palestinian territories is illegal and must end. The court ruled in July that israel is abusing its position as an occupying power.

The court had stressed that there are illegal Israeli settlements in the West bank and east Jerusalem.

Who all were with israel in the voting?

In this resolution against israel in the United Nations, 124 votes were against it. While 14 votes were in support of Israel, which included the US, Czechia, Hungary, argentina and many small Pacific island countries. Many US allies, including France, finland and Mexico, voted in favor of the resolution. At the same time, India, United Kingdom, ukraine and canada did not participate in the voting. These countries had to face criticism for not participating in the voting.
