How was the journey of AAP government?
arvind kejriwal, who emerged from Anna movement, founded Aam Aadmi Party. arvind kejriwal was made the national convener and president of the party. AAP contested for the first time in the 2013 assembly elections. AAP became the second largest party by winning 28 seats. bjp was reduced to 31 by winning just three seats more than AAP. congress had to be satisfied with eight, Shiromani Akali Dal, BSP and JDU had to be satisfied with one seat each. In this way, both bjp and AAP remained far from the majority. bjp refused to form the government as it did not have the majority. In such a situation, congress announced to support AAP from outside. AAP formed the government in delhi for the first time. arvind kejriwal became the chief minister after the elections. Six other MLAs manish Sisodia, Girish Soni, Rakhi Birlan, Satyendra Jain, Saurabh Bhardwaj and somnath Bharti were also sworn in as ministers. chief minister arvind kejriwal kept the Home, Finance, Energy, Vigilance, Planning and services departments with himself.
Journalist-turned-politician manish Sisodia was given charge of Education, PWD, Urban Development, local Bodies, Land and Building departments. IIT graduate somnath Bharti got charge of Administrative Reforms, Law, Tourism and Culture. Rakhi Birlan, the youngest minister in Kejriwal's cabinet, took charge of Social Welfare and women and Child Development and language departments. Girish Soni was given charge of Labor, Development Skill Development and SC-ST departments.
Satyendra Jain was given the health, industry and Gurudwara election departments. Saurabh Bhardwaj, a B.Tech in computer science, was made the minister of food and supplies, transport, environment, elections and general administration departments. The AAP government led by chief minister arvind kejriwal lasted for just 49 days. In february 2014, kejriwal resigned from the post of chief minister and brought down the government. assembly elections were held the next year in 2015. aam aadmi party returned with a thumping majority under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. AAP won 67 out of 70 assembly seats in Delhi. The remaining three seats went to the BJP.
AAP convenor kejriwal took oath as chief minister for the second time on 14 february 2015. Along with kejriwal, six other ministers also took oath. Two ministers, somnath Bharti and Rakhi Birlan, who were embroiled in controversies during the previous government, were removed from the cabinet. manish Sisodia, the second biggest face in Kejriwal's team, got the post of deputy chief minister for the first time. kejriwal did not keep any department with himself in the AAP government. Sisodia was given heavy charge like finance and planning, revenue, services, electricity, education, higher education, information technology, technical education, administrative reforms.
