According to sources in a move aimed at enhancing transparency and public safety, the himachal pradesh government on Wednesday, september 25, ordered that names and addresses of operators, proprietors, and managers must be displayed at all food establishments across the state. It comes after the yogi adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government on tuesday passed a similar order directing the food outlets to display the name of their owners in an apparent bid to prevent alleged incidents of mixing of urine in fruit juices and spitting on ‘roti’ (chapati) in different parts of the state.
Perhaps congress leader and minister Vikramaditya Singh announced the development through a facebook post mentioning that an order related to the mandatory display of outlet owner’s details has been issued during a joint meeting with the Public Works Urban Development and Municipal Corporation. During a meeting with senior state officials, Uttar Pradesh chief minister yogi adityanath expressed grave concern over the incidents of food adulteration, saying that such actions are not only disgusting but pose severe health risks.
Moreover several alarming incidents of food contamination prompted the UP government to implement such measures in the public domain. A video that went viral on september 12 showed a teenager spitting on rotis while preparing them at an eatery in saharanpur district. He was later arrested for the act.
