Maharashtra Deputy cm ajit pawar on thursday (October 3) announced the launch of a five-pronged initiative 'Panch Shakti' to ensure the safety of women, children and people in Baramati in pune district. The Deputy cm made this announcement regarding security after the incident of a student being stabbed to death in a college in Baramati. A 12th class boy was stabbed to death by two other minor students on monday (September 30) in a college in Baramati, the assembly constituency of ncp chief Ajit Pawar.

Focus on increasing security measures in Baramati

Talking about 'Panch Shakti', ajit pawar said, according to a PTI report, "It will focus on increasing security measures in Baramati with special focus on children and women. Baramati police will implement this initiative, which includes programs for youth to promote safety and security.''

'One call, problem solved'

He said, ''Installing a complaint box 'Shakti Box' at different places like schools, colleges, commercial establishments, banks, government offices, st stands and coaching is the first part of this initiative. This will help women and girls to report incidents of harassment, molestation without any fear. Also announced the launch of a dedicated helpline, shakti Number (9209394917) under the tagline 'Ek call, Problem Solved'.

Deputy cm ajit pawar further said, ''This service will be available 24/7, which will ensure that anyone can report the matter and get immediate help. Besides, a 'Shakti Kaksha' (cell) will be set up at the police station level where there will be two women police personnel who will look into complaints of women. 'Shakti Nazar' will focus on monitoring objectionable social media posts and content on different platforms to prevent online harassment, Pawar said. Under the 'Shakti Bhet' programme, which is already underway, dedicated staff will visit schools, colleges and other establishments to conduct awareness sessions. The sessions will cover topics related to the safety of women and children.
