The trading session of Thursday, october 3, 2024 has been very disappointing for the investors of the indian stock market. Due to all-round selling in the market, investors have suffered a loss of Rs 10 lakh crore in today's trading session. There has been heavy selling in banking, IT and auto stocks. Midcap and smallcap stocks have also had to face the tsunami of decline in the market. At the end of trading in the market, the BSE Sensex closed at 82,497 points with a decline of 1769 points, while the National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed at 25,250 points with a decline of 546 points.

Sectoral update

Stocks of all sectors declined in today's trading. Big selling was seen in banking stocks. Out of the 12 stocks included in the Nifty bank index, 11 closed with a decline while only one stock saw a rise. Nifty bank closed down by 1077 points. Apart from this, selling was seen in the stocks of auto, IT, pharma, energy, FMCG, real estate, media, metals, consumer durables, healthcare and oil and gas sectors. Heavy selling was also seen in midcap and smallcap stocks. Nifty's midcap index closed down by 1333 points and the smallcap index closed down by 378 points. india VIX closed at 13.17 points with a jump of 9.84 percent.

Investors lost Rs 9.60 lakh crore

Due to the sharp sell-off in the indian stock market, investors have suffered huge losses. The market cap of stocks listed on the BSE has fallen to Rs 465.25 lakh crore, which was Rs 474.86 lakh crore in the last session. Investors have suffered a loss of Rs 9.61 lakh crore in today's session.

Rising and falling stocks

The stocks that have been hit the most in the fall in the stock market include Hindustan Petroleum which closed with a fall of 6.71 percent. Apart from this, Dabur india closed with a fall of 6.27 percent, GMR Airports 5.64 percent, Godrej Properties 5.57 percent, Power Finance 5.37 percent, DLF 5.35 percent, bpcl closed with a fall of 5.27 percent. Among the rising stocks, Petrolnet LNG closed with a rise of 5.91 percent, Mahamagar Gas 2.81 percent, Jindal Steel 1.52 percent, Marico 0.78 percent.
