Reportedly during his recent visit to the eastern state, prime minister Narendra Modi hit out at the JMM congress RJD coalition government. Modi said that the hemant Soren government had stalled the development of the state and its people. As per report Employment Exchange Statistics, Ministry of Labour has stated “Placements through employment exchanges fell from 10,450 under the nda to a dismal 1,420 under JMM. Also there has been a significant dip in registration by job seekers from 4.60 lakh under the nda government to 2.04 lakh under the JMM Government”.
Meanwhile the saffron party has said that the government in the state has been one which lacked any intent to create meaningful employment, in fact, even resulting in the failure to create jobs under non-farm sectors. Non-farm jobs under the JMM government stagnated at 50 per cent in 2023-24, down from 57.22 per cent in 2018-19, an NSSO report has stated.
Furthermore another set of data released by the Centre also said that during the nda rule, there was an increase in the employment opportunities in the manufacturing sector, which have also tanked under the current state government. From 2,38,472 jobs in 2018-19 during the nda rule, employment in the manufacturing sector has reduced to 2,11,954 jobs in 2021-22 under the Soren government, data shows. Perhaps the state ranks at 19 among all states and UTs in terms of the number of registered startups, with just 1,305 startups contributing 0.93 per cent to the total number in India.
