The Crime Branch team of mumbai police recently arrested three smugglers, who were accused of smuggling whale vomit i.e. ambergris. In this case, a statement was issued by the thane police office stating that they had received secret information about it on 27 September. According to the Crime Branch, in this case, Assistant police Sub Inspector Dattaram Bhosale of thane Crime Branch had received secret information that some people were going to come in a car to sell whale vomit in Dombivali area at around 2 pm.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and arrested three accused along with ambergris. Well, today we will not tell you about this news, but about the specialty of that whale vomit, which is worth crores of rupees in the black market.

Why is this ambergris special?

Whale vomit, commonly known as "Ambergris", is a rare and very valuable substance. This thing is obtained from white whales. In simple language, ambergris is formed in the intestines of white whales and then the whale spits it out. Ambergris is traditionally used to make perfumes and other types of products.

Price of ambergris in the black market

The price of ambergris depends on its quality, its size and its condition. Talking about its price in the black market, at present the price of one kg of good quality ambergris is around Rs 5 to 6 crore. Actually, this thing is very rare and very rarely does anyone get it naturally. That is why its price is so high in the black market.

Ambergris smuggling

The high price of ambergris and its huge demand have promoted its illegal trade. In fact, in many countries, whale hunting and trade in products obtained from it is legally banned. This is why smugglers buy and sell it illegally. However, whales are not hunted for this, rather ambergris is mostly found naturally on the seashore.
