The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed important amendments in the Motor Vehicle Act, under which Motor accident Claims Tribunals will be given a time limit of 12 months to settle the case. Cab aggregators will be able to use motorcycles

This information has come to light through the report of Times of India. Currently, all vehicles used for transport can be used as contract carriage. The proposal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to amend the Motor Vehicle Act will help in providing legal clarity regarding the use of motorcycles. According to the report, many states had banned the use of motorcycles for ride-hailing services, to which the ministry is bringing this amendment proposal. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers, the ministry is going to amend the cab aggregators guidelines to include motorcycles.

Youths aged 16-18 years will be allowed to drive motorcycles! To deal with the problem of underage driving, the ministry has proposed to allow people aged 16 to 18 years to operate 50 cc motorcycles or electric scooters-motorcycles with a maximum motor power of 1500 watts at a speed of 25 kmph. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is going to introduce 67 proposed amendments to the Motor vehicles Act in the winter session of Parliament, which proposes to reclassify light motor vehicles (LMVs) on the basis of their gross weight along with a new definition of buses of educational institutions.
