In the assembly elections held after 10 years, the people have given full majority to the congress and National Conference (NC) alliance. NC has won 42 seats here. congress has won six seats. The total of the seats of both the parties becomes 48, which is two seats more than the figure required to form the government. bjp has won 29 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. mehbooba Mufti's PDP has got three seats, People's Conference, AAP, cpi (M) have got one seat each. 7 independent candidates have also won here. bjp has won all 29 seats in Jammu region. NC has won most of the seats in kashmir region. National Conference President farooq abdullah said after the victory that omar abdullah will be the Chief Minister.
Seats where victory or defeat was less than 1000 votes-
Javed Riaz of National Conference won by 603 votes from Pattan. People's Conference candidate was in second place.
While in Devsar, Peerzada Feroz ahmed of National Conference won by 840 votes. He defeated Mohammad Sartaj of PDP.
Shagun Parihar won by 521 votes from Kishtad. He defeated Sajjad ahmed Kichloo of National Conference.
congress candidate Nizam Bhatt won by 811 votes from Bandipora. He defeated independent Usman Abdul.
Rafiq ahmed Naik of PDP won by 460 votes from Tral seat. He defeated Surendra Singh of Congress.
Sajjad Lone of People's Conference won by 662 votes from Handwara.
Plarre Lal Sharma won from Inderwal seat by 643 votes. He defeated independent candidate Ghulam Mohammad Saruri. Here congress came third, bjp came fourth and PDP came fifth.
