Although in most of the cases the police gets a clean chit, but there is also a case in which 18 policemen were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Perhaps this famous case is from Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, where a young man had come for his job interview, but after an argument with the police, he was killed in an encounter. The matter did not come to light at first, the story told to everyone by the police was very interesting and like a film script.
Moreover it was the year 2009, when the then President pratibha patil was to visit Dehradun. For this, security was tight at every intersection. During this time, three youths were coming on a bike near Araghar in Dehradun, who were stopped by the outpost in-charge and other policemen. During this, an argument broke out between the three youths and the policemen and it is said that the matter reached to a scuffle. Two youths ran away, but the police caught a youth named Ranbir Singh. The police decided to encounter Ranbir Singh to take revenge for fighting and raising hands. After this, he was taken to the forest of Ladpur area and shot. The policemen fired more than 20 rounds on his body to vent their anger. That is, to take revenge, the police carried out this fake encounter, and later made up a story and declared it a real encounter.
