Indian Institute of technology (IIT) has cancelled a program of writer-director Mahmood Farooqui. Some students and employees of IIT had written a letter and protested against Farooqui's program. After which the IIT administration decided to cancel his program on Saturday. The students' argument behind cancelling Farooqui's program was that it would insult the victims of sexual harassment.

Let us tell you that writer, actor and director Mahmood Farooqui was convicted by the court in a case of sexual harassment. After which the high court acquitted him. He was to present the play 'Dastan-e-Karn Aj Mahabharat' based on the life of Karna of Mahabharata during the Izhar Mahotsav at IIT Mumbai. The cancellation of the program has been confirmed by the officials of IIT Mumbai.

Mahmood Farooqui's reaction also came

According to the Times of india report, Mahmood Farooqui has also reacted on the cancellation of the program. He said that I am surprised that IIT mumbai bowed down to the pressure of a group about which I had never heard.

American woman had accused of rape

Let us tell you that in august 2016, Peepli Live film co-director Mahmood Farooqui was accused of rape. Delhi's Saket court had sentenced Farooqui to seven years of imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 50,000. He was sentenced for raping an American researcher of Columbia University. The American woman had alleged that Farooqui raped her in Sukhdev Vihar, Delhi. She had come to delhi for her research work. In june 2015, the foreign woman had accused Farooqui of rape in New Friends Colony police station. The woman also said that Farooqui had apologized to her through email. However, Farooqui denied the allegations against him.
