In view of the maharashtra assembly elections, uddhav thackeray faction leader sanjay raut on wednesday (30 October) claimed that the maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has been successful in persuading rebels in 90 per cent of the seats from where they had filed nominations against the alliance's official candidates. He said that shiv sena (UBT) candidates have filed nominations on 96 seats.
When asked about the rebels in the electoral fray, sanjay raut said, "Such things keep happening in alliances. We will sit together and try to persuade the rebels. We want to bring about change and to do this, everyone has to stay together. We have convinced the party workers (who revolted against the official candidates) on 90 per cent of such seats.''
Will try to convince disgruntled candidates - Sanjay Raut
According to a PTI report, sanjay raut further said, "Shiv Sena (UBT) chief uddhav thackeray, ncp (SP) president sharad pawar and the congress leadership will try to convince the disgruntled candidates. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is november 4. He admitted that when three parties contest together, the parties as well as the workers face problems due to limited seats.
On Sangli and Alibaug seats where MVA constituent shiv sena (UBT) and ally Peasants and workers party (PWP) have fielded their respective candidates, Raut said his party had won these seats in 2019. However, he is still ready to negotiate on these seats as the PWP is part of the MVA. When asked if the Sangli pattern will be seen on some seats? On this, sanjay raut took a dig at congress and said whether its ally has also followed this? assembly elections are to be held in a single phase on all seats in Maharashtra. Voting will be held on all 288 seats on november 20, while the counting of votes will take place on november 23.
