The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a holiday on 1 November, the day after diwali, on 31 october 2024. However, a condition has been kept for this. According to this order, there will be a holiday on the 1st but the offices will remain open on 9 November.

An order states that under the gazetted holidays declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 for the year 2024 by the General Administration Section, government of Uttar Pradesh, notification number-528/three-2023-39(2)/2016 dated 4 december 2023, a holiday has been declared on the occasion of diwali on 31-10-2024 at number-20 of Para-2.

Yogi government laid this condition

The order states that the festival of diwali is being celebrated in Uttar Pradesh on 31.10.2024 as well as on 01.11.2024 (Friday). In such a situation, after due consideration at the government level, it has been decided to declare diwali public holiday on 01-11-2024 (Friday) under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881.

According to the order, diwali public holiday is declared on 01-11-2024 under the condition that on 9-11-2024 (Saturday) government offices will remain open like normal working days.

Amidst all this, Uttar Pradesh director General of police (DGP) prashant kumar has instructed senior police officers to make tight security arrangements for the festival of Dhanteras and diwali and has entrusted the responsibility of taking special vigilance in ayodhya to the officers. According to a spokesperson of the state government, amidst preparations to create a world record by lighting 28 lakh lamps on the banks of the Saryu river under the eighth Deepotsav in ayodhya, this time there is a plan to light a special kind of lamp in the temple of Ramlala. Along with this, Kumar has instructed to closely monitor all social media platforms and immediately refute any kind of misleading posts and take strict action against the guilty persons.
