For the first time this year, water was sprayed in dehradun and Kashipur using drones for pollution control in Uttarakhand. The State pollution Control Board (PCB) has initiated this innovative effort to control rising pollution and dust particles during the diwali season. The PCB claims that this is the first time in the state that water has been sprayed in the atmosphere through drones. The main objective of this spraying is to improve the air Quality Index (AQI) so that people can breathe clean air. According to Dr. Parag madhukar Dhakate, Member Secretary, pollution Control Board, water was sprayed through drones at various places in dehradun and Kashipur, in which 11 liters of water can be sprayed by the drone at one time. Water was sprayed at an interval of every two hours in pollution affected areas like ISBT, Dilaram Chowk, Rajpur, Jogiwala, Nehru Colony and bengali Kothi in Dehradun. Similarly, in Kashipur, water was sprayed at the government Hospital and Chhatri Chowk from 8 am to 5 pm. According to the PCB, this spraying program will also be done in rishikesh so that the air quality there can also improve.
Decision taken in view of increasing pollution
To control pollution in major cities of Uttarakhand, PCB has started monitoring air and noise quality in dehradun, rishikesh, Kashipur, Tehri, Rudrapur, Haldwani and nainital from october 24. This step has been taken with the aim of controlling the increasing pollution around diwali, as during this season the air quality deteriorates due to firecrackers and dust. To reduce the pollution level, PCB has adopted the method of spraying from drones for the first time.
Efforts to improve air quality not only have a positive impact on people's health, but also help in maintaining environmental balance. Clean air reduces the risk of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, which can increase life expectancy. Additionally, due to pollution control, plants, water sources and soil also become less polluted, which maintains ecological balance.
