As per report shiv sena candidate from Mumba Devi seat, Shaina NC on tuesday launched a scathing attack against shiv sena (UBT) leader sunil Raut for making “regressive" and “insensitive" comments on women, calling them “goat." Raut while addressing an election rally reportedly called Shiv Sena’s Vikhroli assembly candidate Suvarna Karanje a “goat". Responding to the remark, Shaina NC said that women in maharashtra wake up and raise their voices.
Meanwhile an FIR has been registered against sunil Raut, the shiv sena (UBT) candidate from Vikroli constituency and brother of sanjay raut for his reported objectionable comments against a woman candidate of chief minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. The FIR has been registered under Sections 79, 351(2) and 356(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, said officials. The latest controversy over sunil Raut’s ‘goat’ remark comes after another shiv sena (UBT) leader made a “derogatory" remark against Shaina NC, referring to her as ‘imported maal’
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant said “For the last one day, an atmosphere is being created that I have insulted a woman. I have never done this in my life. I am being deliberately targeted by giving a different meaning, I am sad about this but still, if my statement has hurt anyone’s feelings then I express regret. The respect of women in the country cannot be seen according to the party". After facing backlash over his alleged derogatory remark against shiv sena leader Shaina NC, Sawant on saturday tendered his apology, saying that he never intended to insult women in his five decades of political service.
