Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi has said that india has an effective mechanism to monitor the oceans and this mechanism is fully aware of "who is where and who is doing what" to ensure that there is no compromise with the country's interests. The Navy Chief also dismissed the dual aircraft carrier operation by china in the South china Sea, saying that "we do not need to be worried about this."
Addressing the media after the grand finale of the nationwide quiz competition 'ThinkQ 2024' organized by the indian Navy on friday (09 November) evening, Tripathi also said that india keeps a "close watch" on activities in its "area of interest". He made these comments in response to a question asked at the Ezhimala Naval Academy here on China's growing influence in the region through cooperation with Sri Lanka.
'We keep a close watch on China's activities'
The Navy Chief said, "Let china do whatever it does in any part of the world. We are keeping a close watch on what they do in our area of interest. There is nothing that happens in our part of the world that we are not aware of." He said, "The Navy is keeping a very close watch on our areas so that India's national interests are not compromised anywhere, in any way." The Navy Chief said, "When their units, whether military or non-military, operate in the indian Ocean region, we ensure that our national interests are not compromised. We have a great organization to keep an eye on the oceans and we know very well who is where and who is doing what." What did the Navy Chief say on Sagar Parikrama-2? He said that the country has no concern about dual aircraft operations. "We have been doing these dual aircraft operations for many years," he said. Tripathi also said the indian Navy is very proud of the two young women naval officers who are now on a mission to circumnavigate the world in a boat under 'Navika Sagar Parikrama-2'.
