A photo of bharatiya janata party (BJP) candidate Surendra Diler in Aligarh's Khair assembly by-election is going viral on social media. In this photo, it can be seen that all the senior bjp leaders are sitting on chairs on the stage, while Surendra Diler is seen sitting on the ground. This photo gave the opposition an opportunity to make it an issue and they called it an insult to the Dalit community. But Surendra Diler, while giving his views on this, said that this is a symbol of respect for his gurus and elders, not an insult.
He clarified that he is following the traditions of his father and grandfather and is respecting his gurus by adopting their ideals. Surendra Diler told that elders and gurus have always been respected in his family. His father and grandfather always gave a high place to people elder to them and themselves used to sit down, so that their respect and honor remains. He has learnt these habits from his family and now he is taking these traditions forward. He says that he had decided to sit on the ground to respect the Gurus sitting on chairs on the stage.
Being presented in a wrong way - bjp candidate
According to Surendra Diler, the opposition is deliberately making this whole matter controversial. He called it a political ploy and alleged that the opposition is presenting it in the wrong way in the society. He says that what is just a symbol of simple respect is being presented in a wrong way. According to Surendra Diler, his purpose of sitting on the ground is to stay connected to his roots and respect the elders and Gurus of the society. He said that his father also used to always sit on the ground and talk to the public during the election campaign. This is his family tradition, in which respecting elders and staying connected to the ground is taught. Surendra Diler says that he constantly goes among the people and listens to their problems and talks to people while sitting on the ground, so that he can come closer to the public.
