Senior congress leader and former chief minister of maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan has expressed confidence that MVA will get a majority in the state assembly elections. He also said on sunday (November 10) that it is an old tradition that the party emerging as the largest party in the alliance decides the name of the Chief Minister. While talking to the media, Chavan dismissed the claims that the defeat of congress in haryana will weaken the opposition alliance in maharashtra, calling them 'propaganda of the bjp party'.

Chavan, who was the chief minister of maharashtra between november 2010 and september 2014, said, "Haryana and maharashtra cannot be compared. If you look at the results of the lok sabha elections, haryana had 5 seats each (Congress got 5 and bjp got 5 seats) but in maharashtra the results of the lok sabha elections were 65 percent (MVA) and 35 percent. There is a big difference between the two." He also said that the social equation of haryana is different and in any case every region of maharashtra has its own social character.

Who will be the chief minister if the maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) comes to power? On this question, Chavan said, "It is an old tradition that the largest party decides the name of the chief minister after the elections. I don't think there should be anything different this time, but this time if the three parties want to change the formula together, then they are free to do so. The leaders can do whatever they want." Chavan further said that congress PARTY' target='_blank' title='nationalist congress party-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>nationalist congress party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader sharad pawar has also said that the party which has the maximum number of seats among the alliance partners will decide the name of the Chief Minister. When asked if he is in the race for the chief minister, he said, "This is a ridiculous question. Don't ask this, first you have to win the election, our priority is to win the election. As I am saying, sharad pawar has said that the biggest party will decide the name of the Chief Minister."

Chavan said there is no rift between MVA constituents congress, shiv sena (Uddhav balasaheb Thackeray) and ncp (SP) over seat sharing. We have said that the agreement on all 288 seats is a remarkable achievement. Chavan also told the media that "We are mainly talking about 288 seats between three parties and some other parties. There are only 3 to 4 such areas where two allies are contesting against each other. There are also some rebel candidates about whom nothing can be said."
